Vectara

Read the story behind Vectara, former Googlers innovating Retrieval Augmented Generation.

July 23, 2024

Vectara was founded by former Googlers Amr Awadallah, CEO, Amin Ahmad, CTO, and Tallat Shafaat, Chief Architect.

Amin Ahmad built LLMs as a leader of the Google Research Team and Tallat Shafaat was a core member of the Google Knowledge Graph Indexing Team, designing and implementing systems that processed petabytes of data and serviced up to 200,000 queries per second.

Amr Awadallah founded Aptiva and Cloudera, putting big data on the map, and served as an executive for Yahoo and Google.

After working together at Google, they decided to found Vectara, an end-to-end platform for embedding powerful generative AI features into applications with extraordinary results.

Vectara is a developer-first platform providing a simple API that gives developers access to cutting-edge natural language understanding technology with industry-leading relevance.

With Vectara’s “Retrieval Augmented Generation,” businesses can quickly, safely, and affordably integrate best-in-class semantic search and question-answering into their application, knowledge base, site, chatbot, or support helpdesk.
